GENERAL
All of RUUD® AIR CONDITIONING DIVISION'S
products come with a written limited warranty on parts.
The warranty provides that a replacement will be furnished
for any part of the product which fails in normal use
and service during the applicable warranty period specified,
in accordance with the warranty's terms. The RUUD replacement
part is warranted for only the unexpired portion of the
original warranty.
All parts are warranted for a period of FIVE (5) YEARS
after the effective date, except for the following specified
product parts. 5 Years applies to single-phase equipment
installed in residential applications - all other is ONE
(1) YEAR.
EFFECTIVE DATE
The effective date is the date of installation if properly
documented; otherwise, it is the date of manufacture plus
six (6) months.

*Heat Exchangers
General
In the event of heat exchanger failure during the specified
warranty period UNLESS DUE TO CORROSIVE ELEMENTS IN THE
ATMOSPHERE, RUUD will furnish a replacement heat exchanger.
If a replacement is not available for any reason, RUUD
may allow, at its option, a credit in the amount of the
then current suggested retail selling price of the heat
exchanger (or an equivalent heat exchanger) toward the
purchase price of any other similar RUUD product.
Combination
Gas Heat/Electric Cooling Air Conditioners
HEAT EXCHANGER IN COMBINATION GAS
HEAT/ELECTRIC COOLING AIR CONDITIONERS: The heat
exchanger is warranted against failure for TEN (10) YEARS
after the effective date.
High-Efficiency
Oil Furnaces, Achiever 90 Plus® High-Efficiency
Gas Furnaces
HEAT EXCHANGER IN HIGH-EFFICIENCY
UPFLOW, DOWNFLOW, AND HORIZONTAL OIL FURNACES AND SELECT
90 PLUS UPFLOW AND DOWNFLOW/HORIZONTAL HIGH-EFFICIENCY
GAS FURNACES: The primary heat exchanger and the
secondary heat exchanger (condensing coil) are warranted
to the original owner for his or her lifetime, subject
to proof of original purchase, provided the furnace is
installed and used in the original owner's same principal
residence. For any subsequent owner (or the original owner
where the above lifetime warranty conditions are not or
cease being met), or if the furnace is installed for nonresidential
use, the primary heat exchanger (condensing coil) are
warranted against failure for a period of TWENTY (20)
YEARS after the effective date.

HEAT EXCHANGER IN SILHOUETTE,

(5) YEARS after the effective date.

The integrated ignition and blower control is warranted
against failure for FIVE (5) YEARS after the effective
date.

OIL BURNER IN UPFLOW, DOWNFLOW,
AND HORIZONTAL OIL FURNACES: Excluding the primary
control and nozzle, the oil burner only is warranted against
failure for THREE (3) years after the effective date.

DRAFT-INDUCER MOTOR IN THE SELECT

CONDENSING FURNACE MODELS AND MID-EFFICIENCY INDUCED-DRAFT
SILHOUETTE, SILHOUETTE II AND SILHOUETTE II LXE UPFLOW,
DOWNFLOW, AND HORIZONTAL GAS FURNACES: The Draft
Inducer Motor is warranted against failure for FIVE (5)
YEARS after the effective date.
Heating
Element
ELECTRIC RESISTANCE HEATING ELEMENT
IN ELECTRIC WARM AIR FURNACE OR FAN COIL, AND SELF-CONTAINED
AIR CONDITIONER OR HEAT PUMP: Excluding the fusible
link, the heating element is warranted against failure
for FIVE (5) YEARS after the effective date.
Compressor
All compressors are warranted against failure for a period
of FIVE (5) YEARS after the effective date, except for
the following specified product compressors.
COMPRESSOR
IN 12 SEER SINGLE PHASE COMBINATION GAS HEAT-ELECTRIC
COOLING AIR CONDITIONER AND SELF-CONTAINED AIR CONDITIONER
OR HEAT PUMP; SELECT XII PREMIUM LINE, SELECT XIII AND
SELECT XIV SUPER HIGH-EFFICIENCY CONDENSING UNITS AND
HEAT PUMPS:
The compressor is warranted against failure for TEN (10)
YEARS after the effective date.
Coils
Evaporator and Condenser Coils
EVAPORATOR AND CONDENSER COILS IN
CONDENSING UNITS, HEAT PUMPS AND COMBINATION GAS HEAT/ELECTRIC
COOLING AIR CONDITIONERS UP TO FIVE (5) TON CAPACITIES:
These coils are warranted against leaks caused by factory
defects for FIVE (5) years after the effective date.
The
following terms are common to all of RUUD AIR CONDITIONING
DIVISION'S individual product warranties:
THIS WARRANTY WILL NOT APPLY: a) to defects or malfunctions
resulting from failure to properly install, operate or
maintain the unit in accordance with the manufacturer's
printed instructions; b) to damage from abuse, accident,
fire, flood and the like; c) to parts used in connection
with normal maintenance, such as cleaning or replacing
air filters; d) to units which are not installed in the
United States of America or Canada; e) to units which
are not installed in accordance with applicable local
codes, ordinances and good trade practices; f) to defects
or damage caused by the use of any attachment, accessory
or component not authorized by RUUD; or g) to units manufactured
under the Corsaire label.
SHIPPING COSTS: The homeowner will be responsible for
the cost of shipping warranty replacement parts from our
factory to our RUUD distributor and from the distributor
to the location of your product. You also are responsible
for any shipping cost of returning the failed part to
the distributor. (If in Alaska, Hawaii or Canada, you
also must pay the shipping cost of returning the failed
part to the port of entry into the continental United
States.)
SERVICE LABOR RESPONSIBILITY: This warranty does not cover
any labor expenses for service, nor for removing or reinstalling
parts. All such expenses are your responsibility, unless
a service labor agreement exists between you and your
contractor.
HOW TO OBTAIN WARRANTY PERFORMANCE: You must promptly
report any failure covered by this warranty to the installing
contractor or distributor. Normally, the installing contractor
from whom the unit was purchased will be able to take
the necessary corrective action by obtaining through his
RUUD air conditioning distributor any replacement parts.
If the contractor is not available, simply contact any
other local contractor handling RUUD air conditioning
products.
The name and location of a local contractor can usually
be found in your telephone directory or by contacting
a RUUD air conditioning distributor. If necessary, the
following RUUD office can advise you of the nearest RUUD
distributor:

HOWEVER, ANY REPLACEMENTS ARE MADE SUBJECT TO VALIDATION
BY RUUD OF IN-WARRANTY COVERAGE. An item to be replaced
must be made available in exchange for the replacement.
MISCELLANEOUS: No one is authorized to make any warranties
on behalf of RUUD. ANY IMPLIED WARRANTIES, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY
OR FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, SHALL NOT EXTEND
BEYOND THE APPLICABLE WARRANTY PERIODS SPECIFIED ABOVE.
RUUD'S SOLE LIABILITY WITH RESPECT TO DEFECTIVE PARTS
SHALL BE AS SET FORTH IN THIS WARRANTY, AND ANY CLAIMS
FOR INCIDENTAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES ARE EXPRESSLY
EXCLUDED. Some states do not allow limitations on how
long an implied warranty lasts, or for the exclusion of
incidental or consequential damages, so the above limitation
or exclusion may not apply to you.
This warranty gives you specific legal rights, and you
may also have other rights which vary from state to state.
